Mattel introduced the Hot Wheels line with sixteen models.  These included custom cars, show cars and race cars.  These cars were issued in eight Spectraflame colors, with various shades, and a few enamel colors for specific models.  All had red line painted on the tires and chrome hubs.  This is why they have commonly been called "REDLINES" over the years.

Cars were manufactured in the USA (US) and Hong Kong (HK), with subtle variations in most models based on the manufacture location. The most common variation is the US cars had clear windows and the HK cars had windows with a blue tint.

Below, and in the other pages of this site, are examples of the cars/trucks and some of the color variations, as well as an example of the collectors buttons that came with the cars until ending in 1971.
